I have had a trauma lately. I paid quite a bit of money to have some pictures taken and when I received the contact sheet. I looked DREADFUL. I have always suffered with dark circle and deep-set eyes and these photos made me look OLD! Arghh! Time to take action. I looked on the Internet to see (for the future) how to combat the problem and lo and behold the problem was that the skin under my eye is dry (surprise, surprise) so I have been taking extra care to moisturise around the eye in the morning AND last thing at night and the problem has improved dramatically! So all’s well that ends well.
As for the photos… Well there’s always Photoshop.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone. Gosh I have been away for a while and I’ve come back rested, relaxed and twice the size I was in 2007- Thanks to Nans cooking.
As predicted, I got plenty of moisturising creams and body lotions to combat my dry skin and I feel, as now I’m a bit of an expert, that I am ready to do battle with the coldest months of the year. I am braving the drafts by opening a window at home to allow fresh air into the house and my baths aren’t long drawn out piping hot affairs. ( And if they are I moisturise with Eucerin oil straight after.)
I confess I have had more to drink but as the January detox begins I have added 2 litres to my daily intake of water so come early Feb I will be back on form.
Cheers to you all- Let me know how you’re all getting on and good luck with your skin for 2008!

OK so you have dry skin and it’s so bad you go to your doctor for help. He offers you a steroid cream. Your first reaction is STEROID????!!
What are the myths and what are the facts?
Well a steroid cream has been known to thin the skin a little causing the skin to tear and scar more easily. Normally however you are advised by your doctor to only use steroid creams for a short amount of time. I have found a table of what steroid creams are available on a wonderful website and have attached it below. I hope it helps.

Normal moisturisers however have been know to be less effective than steroid creams in serious cases. But still really good on dry skin especially if they’re hypoallergenic. The thicker the moisturisers the better. Oils are best, then creams and then lotions. So it depends heavily on how dry your skin is and how often you use that moisturiser.
I’m not sure if this is something I have made up in my head but I definitely hold this to be true.
Fact 80% of people have dehydrated skin. If skin doesn’t have enough moisture it will look slightly drawn- unhealthy!
Does this mean then that effectively if your skin is well moisturised it ‘Plumps’ up the skin making it look healthy and dare I say …Younger???

Is this the way collagen works ?? Answers on a postcard please??

Grrrr I don’t know about you guys but my skin has gotten seriously dry in the last week or so. I was finding it getting itchy and dry at night, driving me mad fortunately I had Eucerin to fall back on but as my skin was getting progressively worse I decided to find out why it was so much worse in the winter. This is what I discovered.
Central Heating and no ventilation drys the skin,
Going from cold (outside) to hot (inside) and back again also drys out the skin.
How do we make it better?
Drinking water and lots of it.
A good moisturiser is essential for keeping the water in the body.
Turning the heating off at night. (also saves the electricity bill)
Good luck.
I saw an article on a website recently and tought I’d share it with you. It’s a test to see what type of skin you have with a few easy steps.
The Test
1/Wash face.
2/Pat dry.
3/Take a piece of rice paper and press on different spots on your face.
The Results
1/Oily, the rice paper becomes translucent.
2/If the paper doesn’t stick , your skin is dry.
3/If it sticks in your t-zone, then you have combination skin.
My samples finally arrived! And I was able to try them out. I have so far tried the foot cream, face cream and body lotion. I even managed to get my boyfriend to try the foot cream- I think he secretly enjoyed it!
I also think I have a great way of applying the foot cream- My suggestion is that you apply it at night and get the oldest and softest pair of socks you own pop them on and let it soak in over night. When you wake up in the morning and take your socks off you will be left with the softest feet in the word!!!
I would love to hear your experiences so please post them under this comment tell me what you like or don’t like or even if you’ve got your own suggestions.
Sophie
Well if your anything like me you may still be waiting for your samples- (I am in the second batch.) I can assure you the samples are on their way but I had forgotten that there is a rather large postal strike at the moment. But rest assured I here rumblings of it being over and so the samples will be winging their way to you and you’ll have them tried and tested before you know it.
Keep those comments coming in. We like those ones with honest accounts of what you think of the cream and how it has worked for you. Don’t forget now we are also trying the sensitive range. Feel free to have a look at our sampling entry and see what products are on offer to trial.
Thanks
Sophie

Hi guy’s,
By now you should all have received your samples and be trying them out! They seem to be working a treat for most of you who have left your comments on our boards below. Fell free to check them out if you have not already. We want to know how you feel about the product. If you like it and most importantly would you recommend it to a friend? Also, That sensitive range is now ready to go, so for those of you that have skin a little more prone to irritation this may well be the product for you.
For the first time in years my skin isn’t coming off in large flakes of dry skin. Having tried the sample, I’ve brought the full size, I would recommend it to anyone, it’s worked when others, including steroid creams have always failed for me. Thank you.
